Overview
North Northants Council has a statutory duty under the Crime & Disorder Act 1998 to prevent and deter crime and disorder, in addition as a local authority we have responsibilities for public safety and safeguarding. CCTV is seen as a valuable tool for us to deliver our duty to enable us to carry out our public task functions.
Principle 2 of the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice requires us to carry out regular reviews to ensure our use of surveillance camera systems remains justified and that we have taken into account the effect on individuals and their privacy.
