Corby Station to Town Centre link road and Smart and Connected Corby projects consultation

Overview

In September 2022 North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) conducted engagement activities regarding the proposed Corby Station Link Road and Smart and Connected Corby projects.

These two projects are part of the programme of projects being funded through the Corby Towns Fund which NNC was awarded £19.9m from Government to deliver. 

Corby Station Link Road will look to provide an attractive and safe pedestrian and cycle connection between the town centre, Tresham College and the train station along the southern route of Oakley Road and make a significant contribution to the active healthy travel agenda and help to reduce congestion. It will connect the station directly with the newly opened Sixth Form College and the multi-use building project which are the remaining projects being funded by Corby Towns Fund.  

Smart and Connected Corby proposes to deploy an integrated sensor network to establish Corby as a ‘smart-and-green’ town centre. By harnessing connected technologies, it will enable monitoring to  manage the flows of pedestrians, cyclists, motorists to understand the present, assess the impact of interventions and predict the future; especially as the town’s population increases over the next decade.

Having evaluated all feedback, alternative suggestions and comments received in a public engagement exercise last year, an update was shared in May 2023 and the initial plans were revised.

NNC now seeks your views on the revised plans. You can view the plans:

• At The Corby Cube, George Street, Parklands Gateway, Corby, Northants. NN17 1QG, in the foyer between 01 November and 22 December 2023.
• Highways colleagues will also be present at Corby Cube foyer to discuss any queries between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday 28 November, Thursday 30 November, Monday 04 December, Wednesday 06 December and Friday 08 December.
