North Northamptonshire Fleet Decarbonisation Survey

Overview

We’re looking to understand how local businesses are approaching the transition to battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Your feedback will help shape future support and the development of charging infrastructure across North Northamptonshire.

The number of BEVs on UK roads is growing rapidly, including in North Northamptonshire. Over a quarter of all new vehicles sold in the UK in October 2025 were EVs. To meet this demand, the Council is working with the private sector to deliver a reliable, accessible EV charging network that supports residents, businesses and visitors.

We understand that the transition to electric can be more challenging for larger vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, especially HGVs, but many more models are now available. We also know that businesses are considering hydrotreated vegetable oil and other options as stepping stones.

Some businesses may be considering installing charging points in their depots or looking at shared facilities. There are also proposals for large-scale multi-fuel hubs and upscaling of chargepoints in the area. The availability of infrastructure is expected to increase significantly by 2030.

Completing this simple survey will help us identify the barriers businesses face, the support they need and the opportunities to accelerate this transition. Please share your views below. If you have any enquiries, contact us at ev@northnorthants.gov.uk.

This survey closes at 23.59 on Saturday 31 January 2026.
