This area focuses on new homes, community spaces and green areas.

Key ideas include:

  • Create a vibrant new area with active streets that feel safe, welcoming, and full of life
  • Improve walking connections between new homes and the town centre
  • Use high‑quality design to respect heritage and improve run‑down parts of the town
  • Add new homes to support busy local businesses day and night

New Town Centre ‘Urban Quarter’ - aligned with Local Development Plan policy TC 9 - Work with developers to bring forward mainly new homes on the site, with lively High Street frontages, public parking, ensuring safe and reliable access so water and sewer pipes can be properly maintained, and a small mix of other town‑centre uses.

Expansion of Green Networks - Extend green spaces from Basset’s Close into the town centre with more planting and improved, well‑used green areas.
