This area focuses on green spaces, culture and connections.

Key ideas include:

  • Create a welcoming green cultural area around the Museum and Castle Theatre for everyone to enjoy
  • Improve walking and cycling links between the town centre, green spaces, and Swanspool Brook
  • Remove barriers and improve the brook area to better reflect Wellingborough’s historic character

Town centre gateways - Improve crossings and public spaces on key roads to make walking safer, enhance the town centre gateways, and better link cultural areas with nearby green spaces.

Castle Way improvements - Undertake a study to explore the reduction in traffic to create a better walking route, with better lighting and safer crossings linking the theatre, museum, and car park.

Swanspool Brook and nature walks - Improve Castle Way by Swanspool Brook with more greenery, seating, and play features, linking cultural sites to nearby parks like Croyland Gardens.

Cultural Asset Masterplan - Improve the area around the Theatre and Museum with better walking routes, new seating and greenery, a welcoming shared plaza, space for food and drink, and improved lighting to keep it lively and safe after dark.

Building revitalisation - Reuse buildings for local services and support the return of traditional pubs along London Road and Sheep Street.
